We are aware that some .ie domain owners have been getting emails from a group called IDS Ireland. These emails claim that someone has applied to register another version of the user’s domain, with a different extension such as .com, .info, etc.
We would advise anyone who receives one of these emails to ignore it as this is a scam.
If you do decide you want to register a new domain, we recommend using an Accredited Registrar, ideally the same one you used to register your .ie domain to make it easier to manage all your domains.
If you have concerns about the source of these emails, you can contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) for information and advice.
